This place does it right. What blew me and my wife away was the micro attention to detail and the countless additional extra touches. We woke up to a breakfast basket everyday. Complimentary snacks when we arrive. Complimentary car service. The wine and cheese happy hour. Even the key card had a unique holder. The owners of this place and the staff add so much unexpected value and service and it made it that much more special.

This is the second time I stayed at The Restoration. The last time the staff were lovely, this time so much. I was actually in Charleston for the funeral of a very good friend. It was emotional and a difficult time for me - esp as the last time I was in Charleston was for his wedding. The woman who was at the front desk during the day during my stay was rude and really seemed like she didn't like people. My friend mentioned this first, but once I called down a couple of times to ask a question realised he was absolutely spot on. I called and asked if they had an international plug adaptor. It was if I asked the most stupid question - like why would the hotel have one? She then proceeded to say the local CVS would have one - I asked if she could call and ask if the had a UK to US adaptor in stock as I don't have a way to call US numbers and my hair was soaking wet. Her exact response was 'erm you can go onto their website and figure that out'. I then asked if I could reserve one of the jeeps to take me over - she said 'we don't reserve jeeps' very coldly. I then realised it was only a block away - she could have just been helpful and said 'it's only a block away, they will definitely have one'. I don't know what CVS sells - we don't have CVS in the UK. I called a while later and asked if someone could bring up some scissors to my room, I needed to cut some labels off my outfit. The response was something along the lines 'you can come down and get it'. Very blunt. I was getting ready for a funeral - the coldness was literally the last thing I needed. The next day I called down and asked if a couple of coffee sachets could be brought up, as I didn't require a turnover of the room the day before. Again 'I'm very busy, you can come and get it'. Every question and ask was too much. The tone of the responses was perpetually annoyed. I remind you of the class rating of this hotel - you pay partly for the service. For such an expensive hotel you would expect warmth at a minimum. To top it off when checking out I had a charge on my room as I bought two robes. I asked to pay with a different card than the one on file. She rang it through and asked me to put in my pin. I asked for an invoice first, I wanted to see what I was being charged for. She was visibly annoyed at me asking for that. It was over $200 I have a right to ask for a breakdown. She said I can give you a receipt once you pay, which I refused. She then annoyingly looked at her system and said 'its for two robes' only for her to realise I had actually already been charged. Thank God I was insistent. Her whole vibe was just off and passive aggressive. I'm from the UK & we KNOW passive aggressive - I'm not looking for over the top Americanised service - just some basic warmth and be helpful - I received neither from her. Matthew on the otherhand was brilliant, very kind, chatty and not only sorted the robes out for me, he actually gave me and my friends a complimentary bottle of champagne - he didn't know it but it was the first time we were able to sit down and chat with my friend's husband since his passing. He remembered the names of my friend's uncle and cousin who had left the hotel that morning as if they were old friends. Thank you Matthew for you character - you made a tough time a little better. The breakfast hampers are incredibly cute, and the general hotel is absolutely beautiful. The location is brilliant and the jeeps (I didn't use it this time) are such a lovely touch. I hope they manage to sort out the inconsistency in warmth between the staff. You just never know why guests are staying - if you don't like people - don't work in service. I would scored the hotel 5 otherwise.

Love this hotel! Each room/suite is beautifully decorated. Can accommodate many different family sizes - we have rented the 3 BR suite with roof deck 2x, The Exchange Suite for wedding welcome parties and have stayed in various other suites. Love The Watch for casual rooftop dining and the Sunday brunch is fantastic. Staff is incredible and location is the best!

We loved this hotel. The small details made our stay wonderful and memorable. The breakfast baskets are such a great touch. The shuttle service was very convenient. The location just off of King Street is perfect. The rooms are beautiful and spacious. There are complementary snacks and drinks. In addition to the wine and cheese each evening. Definitely recommend and will stay again.

I have to say I’m so impressed with this hotel. I have been to Charleston 5 times and this was my first time there and from now on I will be staying here when visiting the city. From the breakfast basket every morning to the complimentary happy hour at 5pm with charcuterie board and fresh chilled wine. It’s quiet, modern, luxurious, clean and very spacious rooms. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Also we didn’t need this service but they offered free rides within 2 miles. Great idea but we weren’t there long. I will definitely use this service next time.

We stayed at The Restoration Hotel in Charleston, SC, from April 4 – 7, 2025, in the Two Bedroom Residence, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish! Our spacious residence was beautifully arranged and felt more like a private downtown home than a typical hotel room. The suite features two king-bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a comfortable living room, and even a washer and dryer, perfect for extended stays or families traveling together. The interior blends historic character like exposed brick and hardwood floors with modern comforts and thoughtful touches throughout. One of the highlights of our stay was the wonderful service, the staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. Each morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast delivered right to our door, with a great selection of fresh items that started our days off perfectly. We also loved the hotel’s prime location in downtown Charleston. Being able to walk everywhere, from historic sites to restaurants, shops, and scenic streets, It made exploring the city so easy and enjoyable. Charleston’s walkable downtown and vibrant culture truly added to the charm of our stay. Our stay at The Restoration Hotel was comfortable, memorable, and perfectly situated to discover all that Charleston has to offer. I would recommend it for anyone looking for both comfort and convenience in the heart of the city!

Everything here is great from service to location to size of rooms. The little touches like free snacks in the fridge, washer and dryer in room, two bathrooms, etc... for this price, I was genuinely impressed. Improvements, though minor, could be the HVAC (noisy!), the bed (hard!) and the wifi (open and able to be used by every neighbor which slows down significantly due to this lack of bandwidth).

I couldn't be happier that we chose this hotel for our first visit to Charleston. Our room was perfect and the hotel was quiet. I love that The Rise Coffee Bar is attached. The daily breakfast basket was a treat even when we went out for breakfast. Having some fruit or a breakfast pastry to start the day off was great. I asked for extra popcorn and Coca-Cola, and both were expeditiously provided. We requested rides to the aquarium and African American Museum on different days, and Matthew, the guest experience manager, was gracious in driving us to our destinations at the exact times we were hoping for. The location of the hotel - right off King Street - was so perfect. We averaged about 12k steps per day exploring the shops, historic landmarks, museums and restaurants. The bathtub in our room was perfectly slanted. I would love to come back to this hotel!
